Sunflowers

After creating the FLORAL series of acrylic paintings in early 2023, I decided to focus on a single flower and see what beautiful color combinations I could create that flower in. I chose a sunflower not only because it is striking in the contrast between its golden petals and its pistil, but also because Van Gogh's paintings of sunflowers have impressed his color scheme on our mind. What, I asked myself, would a sunflower look like if its petals ad pistil came in a variety of color? Using the ancient art of stenciling, I explored some of the possibilities.
